Montag 11. Juli

Hello everyone, and sorry I'm posting this today instead of last night. There was a big storm and it's also been raining all day. For some reason my family wanted to turn off the wifi, maybe to protect from a power surge. I'm posting this when I'm home from the Bodensee and have wifi for the first time.

Today was our first day of school, and all the exchange people from both sides had a small meeting around 8:30. Some of us had class early at 7:45, but for others the first class started around 9:30 or even 11:30. On normal days, that don't have a meeting, you can show up whenever your first class is, and leave whenever you're done for the day, or when school ends around 12:30. German school seems a lot more like college in that way, and also similar to college, they barely get any homework. They are given some, but much of it is just for one's understanding and it isn't mandatory. Why can't our school be like this?

What sucks about their school though, is that there's no air conditioning and it was very hot outside today. All the classrooms have windows at this school which are open basically all the time, and they help get rid of some of the stuffyness, but it's just as hot, or hotter in the classroom than it is outside.

Edit: As I'm posting this the next day at school, the temperature is totally fine in the school because it's cool outside, so it being hot every once in a while is bad, but barely any homework far outweighs any negative like not having air conditioning.
Also, all pictures will be up a bit later because they were taking literally forever to upload with the wifi here and I want to get this up soon, especially because I'm already late posting it.

We all got out of class just a tiny bit early to go to the bus which would take us to the Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black Forest. When we got there, we split up into two groups and started to climb. According to Meghan's phone, we climbed 47 flights of stairs to get to the top. Also, here are some pictures taken by Meghan, our personal photographer.

One of the groups didn't go all the way up to the top which was disappointing for them, but we met on the way down and took a group picture.

We headed back to the bus after this to drive back to the school, and along the way we stopped at a church/small town for a while. We visited the church for a while, and then walked around the town until it was time to get on the bus again.

We were driven back to the school and from there we went to each of our houses. At mine, we had pizza for dinner, and then we both got into bed relatively early because we were both so tired from waking up early and all that we had done during the day.

Once again, sorry this is going up late. Also, did you know dinosaurs are blue?

Tschüss,
Teddy
